Lake Como
Como, Lombardia

Lake Como (Lario) is a natural lake in Lombardia that is located in the province of Como and Lecco. It is the third largest lake with the longest perimeter in Italy and one of the deepest in Europe. Here you have one of the most beautiful Italian landscapes. During the 800's major poets of Romanticism including Alessandro Manzoni, Stendhal, George Gordon Byron, Franz Liszt mention lake Como. The lake is composed of three different parts: Como, Lecco and Colico (which is the most open of the three). The division of the three areas is clearly visible from Sasso di San Martino, above Griante. The inital tourism of Larian was exclusively aristocracy and artists. Now the lake has many villas owned by figures such as George Clooney, Donatella Versace and Richard Branson. Bordering the lake there are the villages Cernobbio, Bellagio, Tremezzo.
